Charitable Giving by Ocean Cares - Casino Change Donations | Ocean Casino Resort Return to BlogPublished: March 2021 Whether you come to Ocean Casino Resort and end up hitting the jackpot or playing it safe, you somehow end up with one ticket slips with some change on them. Luckily, the Ocean Cares program ensures that you have a place to deposit the change slips as charitable contributions to the local community. Ocean Cares donation boxes called “Change for Change” are installed throughout the casino floor. This is Ocean’s initiative to collect donations from players who would like their small change ticket slips to go to charity. The boxes can be found next to ticket redemption machines and Cashier cages at the resort. As an organization, Ocean Cares continues to participate in charitable giving and philanthropic efforts, both from a community and national standpoint. Contributions are made in the areas of Community, Health & Human Services, Culture, Education, and Seniors, among others. In 2021, our guests have donated about $10,000 in change slips already. Four very worthy organizations in the community will be benefiting from our patrons' generosity How Ocean Cares is making a difference in its local community The 2026 six non-profits that Ocean Cares will be supporting through the change donation drop boxes include: Covenant House - Covenant House New Jersey’s (CHNJ) mission is to provide housing and supportive services to youth ages 18-24 experiencing homelessness and survivors of human trafficking with absolute respect and unconditional love regardless of race, creed, religion, ethnic origin, or sexual orientation. Adelaide’s Place – Established in August 2002 as a day center for women who do not have children with them experiencing homelessness and/or are at risk or both. Adelaide’s Place is a safe haven for women where they are treated with dignity and respect and provided with supportive services to improve their quality of life. Adelaide’s Place provides referrals to local agencies and offer activities such as guided meditation, arts and crafts and small group discussions on topics the women select, as well as nutrition and budgeting classes. These activities are conducted by the staff and volunteers, as well as outside agencies. Many of the women report that the socialization experienced here with the others is an important part of their lives. Having the support of Ocean Casino Resort not only assists us in continuing to serve the women who come to us each day, but offers a positive affirmation to each of these women that others care about them, specifically a local business that supports them.
